Volunteers for 2010 Asian Games

More than 660,000 people have apply for volunteer jobs for the 2010 Asian Games, organizers said on Thursday. Volunteers can send their applications either through the official website (www.gzv2010.com). The 95 designated or moving application center in the city as well as mobile phones, said by the organizers at the press briefing. Between the applicants untill Wednesday, college students account for 68 percent, said by Wang Huanqing, secretary of the volunteers department of the Asian Games.

The 16th Asian Games will begin from November 12-27, 2010 in Guangzhou. The second city in China to host the biggest sports game in the continent after Beijing held the 11th Asian Games in 1990.

China vs NBA charity game

Brandon Jennings scored 23 points to give his team of NBA stars.They win 101-95 victory over Chinese men's national team in Beijing on Saturday. This charity game is part of the Yao Foundation Charity Tour to help improve education environment for poor children in Western China.The tour also include a donation banquet on Friday. It can make 9.94 millions yuan in charity auctions, and another charity game in the city of Taipei next Wednesday.

The Yao Foundation was established in 2008 in the after of the earthquake in China's Sichuan Province.The foundation has help to rebuild six schools in the earthquake area. Three schools have been completed, and remaining three schools are to be completed by September. The Yao Foundation also provide scholarship for students and help youth develop their sports talent.
